Kickin’ Tires and Lightin’ Fires

Just kidding. All I’m really doing right now is updating some stuff. For the ol’ personal website, I don’t do a whole lot of updating here, aside from the Publications page. Which, incidentally, has been updated. And will bo soon again, because I have a book about to be released!

I went with the self-published PoD route this time, using (gag) Amazon. The reasons are many, but the main thrust is that it’s the fewest middlemen on route to the largest audience. As much as we hate megacorps in this household, a person’s gotta eat. Art is art and all that, but I can’t eat paper. I mean, I can, and I used to when I was a kid, but I can’t eat it for nutritional value.

So. My next book, confessions from a drainage ditch, will be available forthwith from Amazon. I’ll include a link as soon as it’s live. I pushed the big yellow button just this morning, and they claim it can take up to 72 hours to appear on the marketplace. There’s also an ebook version, if that’s more your speed. Regardless, both should be available on the 1st of September, and I’ll have an audiobook version hopefully by the end of the year. Here’s the blurb:

“I would like to come home,
but you do not
remember what you created.”

confessions from a drainage ditch is a book of poetry about how the idyllic small-town life fails us, but also how it can, sometimes, save us. Poems of joy, regret, life, death, and growing up where everyone knows everyone. Poems of moving on to where no one knows anyone. A cataloguing of parts, pieces, processes, and people. A book of pleading, yearning, and maybe a little acceptance.

I’m also knee-deep in a two-year-long serial poetry project heavily influence by cyberpunk, but without most of the genre trappings, looking at the real humanity parts of it rather than the flash and futurism. Because the future is already here, you see. But in 1991, we didn’t really realize it, did we?

Anyway! New book!
